1. Have your Boiler Serviced Annually Each Year

Whilst having your boiler serviced each year may require an additional investment (if you’re unit is out of warranty), this is a great way of identifying small faults and correcting them before they become too problematic. 

This can actually help to save you money over time, by negating the need for expensive repairs and ensuring that your boiler operates more efficiently in the future.

If your boiler is in warranty, having the unit serviced annually may also help you to respect the terms of your guarantee and prevent any liability issues further down the line.

2. Consider Investing in a Power Flush

Over time, your heating system can also develop significant blockages, which are typically caused by sludge, debris and accumulated dirt.

To remove these elements, you may want to consider investing in a power flush service, which requires an accredited engineer to attend your home and use robust cleaning agents to clean out your heating system.

We’d recommend having this done every five to 10 years on average, as it can also help to prevent the long-term accumulation of dirt and debris over time.

3. Regularly Check and Bleed your Radiators

On a final note, there are also one or two steps that you can take in-house to help maintain your boiler unit.

One of these is to regularly check and bleed your radiators, paying particular attention to any cold patches that may appear when the heating is on. These may be indicative of trapped air in the heating system, and you can release this through the individual pressure valves on individual radiators.

This will also increase the pressure in your heating system over time, so if bleeding your radiators doesn’t help you should definitely call in an accredited engineer.
